Job Description
The Prototype Engineer is a key member of the Hardware Engineering team at Greensea IQ, helping transform innovative marine robotics concepts into reliable, production-ready products. This hands-on engineering role works across the full product development lifecycle, from early design concepts and engineering prototypes through first builds, testing, troubleshooting, and transition to manufacturing.
Collaborating with Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Manufacturing Teams, the Prototype Engineer helps ensure that products are not only well designed, but can also be assembled, tested, and manufactured consistently, efficiently, and at scale.
Responsibilities
- Support the development of product concepts, designs, and engineering requirements, providing practical input based on hands-on build and manufacturing experience.
- Review and provide feedback on engineering documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and test protocols/reports.
- Provide hands-on guidance for design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), identifying opportunities for poka-yoke, part-count reduction, simplified assembly, improved reliability, and reduced manufacturing costs.
- Build, troubleshoot, and test engineering prototypes and first-build units, translating engineering designs into functional hardware.
- Develop initial assembly and test methods, work instructions, and supporting fixtures and tooling to enable consistent and repeatable builds.
- Serve as a subject matter expert during the transition from engineering to manufacturing, helping establish robust, scalable production processes, as well as training production personnel as needed.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for field failures.
- Proactively identify opportunities for product and process improvements and help drive solutions from concept through implementation.
- Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, and attention to detail while adhering to established engineering procedures and good manufacturing and documentation practices.
- All other responsibilities as reasonably assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5-7 years of experience in product development, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, or a related engineering environment.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience building, testing, troubleshooting, and improving complex electromechanical products.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and developing engineering documentation, including mechanical drawings, Bills of Materials, electrical schematics, and test procedures.
- Experience with complex electromechanical assembly, including soldering, crimping, wiring, and the use of basic hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills, as well as the ability to identify problems and develop practical, durable solutions.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to product quality and reliability.
- Exemplify a customer-focused attitude, both end-users and downstream, internal colleagues.
- Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization, and collaborate with teammates across a range of skills, disciplines, and experience levels.

Job Description
The Production Technician is responsible for supporting the assembly, integration, and testing of Greensea IQ products, components, and systems. This role operates primarily on the production floor, performing manufacturing and testing activities in accordance with Greensea IQ standards, procedures, and quality requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality, defect-free assemblies on schedule. Success in this position requires a strong work ethic, the ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment, and a collaborative approach to supporting evolving program needs. This position reports directly to the Production Team Lead.
Responsibilities
- Participate as a collaborative, multidisciplinary production team member supporting manufacturing and operational goals.
- Assemble Greensea IQ products, components, and systems in accordance with established procedures, specifications, and quality standards.
- Assist in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and servicing of existing robotic control systems and related components.
- Perform functional testing, inspection, and verification of assemblies to ensure reliable, defect-free performance.
- Execute production activities safely, efficiently, and with strong attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Adhere to company standards, work instructions, and testing protocols throughout all stages of the production process.
- Create and maintain clear, accurate, and effective documentation for production, testing, and QA/QC procedures.
- Provide support to engineering staff and participate in field testing activities as needed.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing production efficiency, product quality, and workflow effectiveness.
- Additional duties as reasonably assigned by management.
Requirements
- Technical school training or certification preferred; candidates with equivalent hands-on experience and demonstrated technical aptitude will also be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience in electronics assembly, production, or robotics manufacturing environments.
- Strong understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, with the ability to use oscilloscopes, DC power supplies, multimeters, and other electronic test equipment for troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Familiarity with software integration into hardware systems and verification of system functionality following assembly.
- Proficient in the safe and proper use of electrical test equipment, electronics tools, and general shop tools.
- IPC training and certification preferred, particularly in soldering and electronics assembly standards.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and assembly documentation with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong commitment to quality, precision, and workmanship throughout all stages of assembly and testing.
- Excellent communication skills with strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, and focus in a production environment.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
