You’ll develop hardware for Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), and diver mobility systems. You will also support research and development programs in new technology for marine robotics. Job Description

Greensea’s robotics-as-a-service is expanding rapidly. This role will support iterative improvement of existing robotic platforms as well as development of next-generation hardware. This position works closely with the Chief Engineer – Robotics to define priorities and high level requirements. The applicant will be expected to execute concept development, prototype design and fabrication, testing, and progressive release-to-production. The goal of this position is the delivery of a technical solution, in volume, to customers both internal and external to Greensea IQ.

Responsibilities

  • Concept development
  • Prototype design, fabrication, and testing including
    • Protoboard circuits, Arduinos, harnesses
    • System bench-mockups
    • Development and debugging of microcontroller firmware
    • Compact electro-mechanical assemblies
    • COTS component selection
  • More prototype fabrication and more testing
  • Progressive transition to low-volume/high-mix production
  • Production support and sustaining engineering
  • Close collaboration with mechanical, software, and robotics engineers
  • Troubleshooting and corrective action development
  • All other responsibilities as reasonably assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
  • 4-7 years’ experience in embedded circuit design and electro-mechanical systems
  • OrCAD Schematic Capture
  • Excellent hands-on skills (assembly, surface-mount soldering, chassis wiring)
  • Systems-integration experience (Electrical/Mechanical/Firmware/Software)
  • Experience in a production environment
  • Preferred experience with:
    • AUV/ROV/UAV systems
    • Lithium -secondary BMS
    • Motor controllers and ESCs
    • RS-232/422/485/CAN/SPI/I2C interfaces
    • PCB design and documentation-packages using PADS
    • Ubuntu
    • Field deployments and support
  • Self driven, able to work within small interdisciplinary technical teams
  • Ability to:
    • Work to a medium-term project schedule independently
    • Multi-task and self-prioritize efforts (Goal-Driven)
    • Move quickly and learn quickly
